Celadon is a shade of green. This restaurant is a journey if you’re a vegetarian or not. There are some organic items, and most of them are produce. It is an interpretation, or shall I switch my reflection? It is a cuisine theater. It is a place where all of your senses can sing. I would venture to say it is Zen formal where orange candles flicker from an Asian Christmas. It is a place where an Italian guy falls in love with an Asian girl. There is a court lounge room where the manager, Jeffrey worked with blood, sweat, and tears. He stained the floor creating faux bricks. There are three beds in the court lounge and a bar with secret alcoves. Oh yeah, you can eat anywhere.
A wood burning fireplace with tasteful sand pepper chairs and soothing art textures are on the outside. They are made by Sedi Designs. This is a place to hum, sing, walk barefoot, and even dance. Tonight I am dining alone and feel part of a larger family. There is no harshness here, just serene activity. Celadon is pulsating of sight, taste, smell, and primordial, hip music from cool places. Celadon was thought out with human joy in mind. It is a place whether full or minimal in regards to people, it flows.
The Amber lights flicker on and play the role as a reminder of some lost memory that there is an eternity. You can leave the harshness behind when you enter Celadon. You can break the rules, eat the way that you like, and be who you are at Celadon. It is a Bollywood movie here just when you think it is over. It goes on and on. You should let Jeffrey and the chef order for you. Money is like water.
The owner, Louie yang is a businessman. Celadon is his first restaurant and he is truly supporting of the creative process of the chef, Danny L. His last name is Elmaleh. Danny is Japanese and Moroccan and his eclectic love of the art of cuisine is apparent. All of the ingredients preparation has such subtle gratitude of what spices and condiments offer.
The service here at Celadon is attentive and new. The Celadon Mojito with Thai basil is perfect, especially on a warm, Los Angeles evening. You are in good hands in the journey of the wine. Jeffrey is one of the judges in the San Francisco International Wine Competition. The grapes that were almost extinct are used in Morottie Compi. This officially lets you know that you have arrived in Heaven.
Celadon is open for dinner only. My server, Jason is knowledgeable and the Syrah from Spain, Los Planos is as big as it gets. You can feel a flamenco dancer coming out of it…literally. The small bite sizes of food come at you like a tropical day in clear water and little fish massage your cells. The journey at Celadon actually brings you to different regions of the world in that how I partake of my food with chop sticks, fork and knife, or hands…fun. Celadon celebrates the unique way that people enjoy sustenance. Each dish gets better and better. The ravioli with truffle oil is a steppingstone to culinary Heaven.Over at the bar, Vanessa and Kelly are the bartenders and their philosophy is, ‘You can teach a monkey to pour drinks, but what makes a bartender is their personality’.
I enjoyed a fruit dessert that has been a secret kept from me by The Creator. Celadon stays open until late. Don’t rush out of Celadon. Go lounge, digest your food, and have some tea in the lounge.
