Casa Laguna Inn & Spa

By Anthony Curatolo

Outside of it's perfect history and presentation, it's spectacular location, the owners have left no stone unturned that I can detect. They treat this place as if they were living here full time. There are even ear plugs if you get distracted from your dreams by too much steady talking by the ocean waves. The layers of bed adornments will make you sleep like a prince or princess. There are details of luxury at Casa Laguna that would please any class of traveler.

Breakfast is a mini royal affair inside or outside. The courtyard on this sunny day is perfect with Mexican clay baked tile both earthy and warm with flowery designs. Cheerful staff who you feel good being around love being here and  an intimate scale in that everything is close by yet in proportion and cozy proximity. Size as we know it is a concept. One of my favorite outlook are lot of love, a small room is too big. No love two mansions are too small... Bill Gates, I am told, has a house on the ocean side.

Casa Laguna is located in a non-tourist section of Laguna - you really get the feel of why people live here. You'll run into a local and notice how friendly the people really are here.

Flowers in your room, it's all here. Just bring what it means for you to vacation and you will be supported and have the means for fun. Oh yes, fun, something money can't buy.

The breakfast polenta with orange and mint makes a great jump start to a long day. Kirsten, my server, is perfect for the morning ritual breakfast. Energetic yet not interfering with the details of the articles I am reading in the New York Times. A bee just landed in my honey and doesn't seem to care. Thank god it is just a  tablespoon so I will be able to get him out so he can visit other honey sources.

The small scale is because this place used to be groundskeepers residence for Rocklege, 22 rooms. The biggest suite is The Cottage Member of Unique Inns. E plein air painters come once a year and paint the rooms. of the 22 rooms there are 10 different types to choose from with ocean views, patio room, and a fireplace.

Wow, a great nurturing atmosphere where one can even make friends.

Kathryn Mace, General Manager, use to work for the Marriott and said she left because many places who claim to be in the hospitality business act like they are in the hostility business.

A person's life is precious....

Try a cottage for a romantic getaway, but give them a month advance notice. They are voted the Most Romantic Views in Sunset Magazine. Grab a massage or select from extensive spa services and pick your location - try the library or the patio looking over the ocean. A therapeutic soak tub can be rented.
