You must forgive me whatever I write about Hotel Drisco now celebrating it's 101st year in operation in Pacific Heights. This article will be tinged with sunshine and the positive light side of life only. Some will say, that is life. I lean towards this view, more each day. The year 2000 after being victorious over a near death event, my state of mind to say the least was exalted jovial.
I discovered Pacific Heights, San Francisco, a collector of my art work gave me a gift a Nikon camera of photonic F2 with lenses from 28 wide angle to 200 mm. Being a person who loved to think expansively, as my Mom would say, "Anthony, you were not born with a silver spoon in your mouth, you were born with a gold spoon in your mouth." You can imagine when I discovered Pacific Heights, I arrived at home. There were many gold spoon friends, they thought expansively and they showed in the places that they hung out. Even the views from these palace homes took your eyes far and wide. Some days, I would spend six to eight hours exploring, photographing the wonders of this special place, where it is said, "If you sleep on this soil, your dreams reach the heavens..."
It's 2007 and I am staying at Hotel Drisco, rooted in the heart of the residences of Pacific Heights, time stops when you don't think about survival. You learn to "BE". If you find yourself lucky at Pacific and Broderick the location of Hotel Drisco and in some of the rooms, you'll be over looking even the views of the tallest houses of Pacific Heights. Looking out, you will see majestic, magical views of the San Francisco Bay. The staff is welcoming not questioning. The sweet history of the architecture is intact freshly maintained. You can entertain yourself by some of the best walking in the United States, if not the world. At Hotel Drisco, you find a fun adjustment to all the eras that have pasted through it. There is 24 hour room service, a micro gym, it is a good place to keep your mistress or your mother in law. The lobby is Victorian cozy for reading, contemplation or friendly conversation. You will dream well at Hotel Drisco. The suites are spacious enough for intimate dancing and lounging. Everything old functions, so from the view of function, it is still young. I would love to see the breakfast at Hotel Drisco be organic along with the afternoon wine selection.
