El Paseo

By A. Curatolo

Wine Tasting at El Paseo in La Chouette~

La Chouette means the owl.  The Cabernet is off the market, sold to customers only, harvesting two bunches a stem and organic.  Produced in Northern California's Napa Valley, St. Helena, it's Napa Valley reserve.

The El Paseo's building was designed in the 30's, early 40's, red brick with Spanish curves.  There is a redbrick walkway and an apartment above-it has a charm that you can breathe.  What is truly lacking is the element of fun-more calm-get a glass of wine and go back to room or hotel and enjoy your retreat.  The wine is good.

The wine bar is romantic at El Paseo.  All brick with fresh white roses and beautiful art.  Yoshi is a student gentleman who will make you feel like you're in another country.  I would  love them to have 'teenage night' to educate teenagers on fine dining and good manners.  I wrote this article in purple, something you wouldn't know if you were just e-mailing.

Consider, Imagine, Regardless.  Some kids jumped out of the bushes at a couple coming out of El Paseo and shocked them.  They were called on it and were very sorry about their mischief.  They said "excuse me ma'am, we don't know what you're talking about."  I understand youth does useless things, I also understand that adults over-react and can be rather harsh?balance people!  I am here, calm.

Sense of humor in the impeccably clean artistic "let-go" place.  Here 15 years and has a dedication to the building that surpasses the business.   Former owners decorated in an outdated fashion; the new owners reinvented it.  There are places where the brick laying is uneven 'cause the former owner was having a loving affair with brick layers.
