Gaylord India Restaurant

Sausalito

By A. Curatolo

Each Gaylord restaurant is individually owned.  I have eaten at the first Gaylord in Bombay, India, which was a pleasure.  Here, at the Sausalito location you are literally on the San Francisco Bay.  In fact, it feels like you’re docked in a luxury yacht. Gaylord’s is spacious enough to have a large party or wedding and the rare sweeping views of San Francisco Skyline are poetic.

Gaylord is a colorful place with pictures of Radha Krishva and The Gopis. There is enough space to have a large party or wedding and the private banquet room has beautiful views of San Francisco Bay that entertains the eyes as sailboats often breeze by.  Just imagine yourself in Jaipur as a Maharaja or Maharani. There is a romantic interlude to Gaylord and the nighttime sky fused with the lights of the San Francisco Skyline add to the atmosphere.

This Regional Indian Cuisine is served with a high note in culinary arts. There is no lunch buffet but the ingredients are fresh.  The presentation is regal and the hospitality is warm and mature.  My server from Nepal was gentle and real. Gaylord cuisine is good but I feel they are holding back some of their passion to adapt to Western palate, although, I do not feel this is necessary.  People who love Indian Cuisine including Indians love it as it is…of course, such a vast cuisine is open to interpretation.

It would be cool if they gave a half off discount to students. In return Gaylord would have more diversity and atmosphere.  Students deserve a break from all of that studying and no pay.  They could even have a free night for women.  In spite of this, coming to Gaylord simply for the fine Indian Cuisine stands on its own and is worth the trip.
