La Villa Del Lago is a simple green house right above Big Bear Lake. It feels like the lake is jumping into your living room. The décor is nothing you would want to take home with you. Nevertheless, this is not the focus. Yes, it is a comfortable setting in the foothill of the mountains.
While in the Jacuzzi, look to your left and there is Big Bear Lake. From your porch, you are enthroned in the foothill of the mountain with a vertical and horizontal view of an interesting rock form. It is also a good place to talk to the trees. There are at least seven different varieties of pine alone.
I started walking towards the mountain with a beautiful sweeping wood triangular living room and a stone fireplace. There is tacky décor, yet a regal, royal proximity of nature.
La Villa Del Lago is a simple melding of man and nature. The open spaces allow the room to bring an interpretation of your own to Big Bear. Hopefully you will pay homage to nature by doing some art, saying a prayer, sitting quietly in reverence and gratitude, or simply strolling in natures bounty. The trend towards bombarding nature is antiquated and out of time.
North Shore Café is a great choice for breakfast if you do not want to cook at home. La Villa Del Lago has a full kitchen and utensils.
At La Villa Del Lago, sometimes just watching Christmas with Shirley Temple on AMC is enough to release any pretensions, current tensions, and after tensions. The mountains that surround are a reminder of that which is constant, steady, and always friendly.
