The Sunset Marquis is black and white and it is very cold for a Los Angeles night. The room is illogical for the size and scope of Los Angeles. The room stands like a cozy beacon with seven tables. The Marquis Hotel accommodates any state of mind. In fact, Jesse, the food and beverage director says that the philosophy at the Sunset Marquis Hotel is Rosenthalwines.com. It has the first whiskey bar on the Westside. There are forty-five new villas in the hotel. Anything goes here. You can have breakfast at 9 p.m. if you want. Whatever your desire may be, it will be given. If it is not available in the kitchen, a shopper will go get it.
This place is where anyone can go to be in any state of mind. Every other Wine Makers dinner is offered every other month. Great chefs are invited to cook at Wine Makers. This place is ultra cool in that it is so eloquent, yet, so homey. The owner of Virgin Airlines hangs out here. He is down to Earth with all of those planes. That is an accomplishment. The chef is of high standard in that whatever dish he makes, is so wholeheartedly done that you feel that it is his specialty. The pasta grilled vegetable plate is presented like a good trip from the Lord's flower garden. For desert I enjoy the chocolate molten brown cake.
This hotel is by far one of the most comfortable experiences that I have had in Los Angeles. There are no demands or pretensions. Just what do you like? How is it? Remember this? It is good that I am here. I love it.
The room takes pictures of its guests so that the next day it is hung up in the restaurant, "Home Away From Home". Everything at the room sings with comfort and flavor. Mind, this is not rehearsed flavor. It is true flavor. If you know the difference, you will appreciate it immediately. If you don't know, you will learn... It is doable. If you want it by the glass, if you want it by the bottle, it is about you feeling the flow.
Jesse makes it clear that he has been in the private club industry for twenty-five years. He rings with understanding, care, respect, humanity, and accommodation. An oasis that is everything is an oasis that needs to be in an escalating twenty first century. The Rosenthal wine offers Chardonnay and Merlot. The owners reserve these wines. Out of all of the hotels I have stayed in within Los Angeles County, this truly feels like home away from home.
