Located in a nondescript location in Larkspur is a unique, fine Californian interpretation of Indian Cuisine with seasonal local ingredients, which is a great idea. There is no denying that Table Café is unique. The walls are a clean, green apple color and an op art textile blanket that looks like it is ready for a magic carpet ride decorates one of them. Table Café is not a fine dining place but it has fine food.
Owner, Suzane McGoldrick is doing her thing with those big, Irish blue eyes. Suzane is an English major who put cookbooks together and always dreamed of having a restaurant. Now days she is shopping twice a week, cleaning, cooking, smiling, and soothing stomachs through her food. I thought she had been cooking most of her life but she says it’s only been three years. I am a little suspicious because the cuisine, which is yummy yum has no category. She describes it as being influenced by the mostly organic ingredients.
You will be pleasantly surprised and fed. The chutneys are like from a Vermont farm with someone who loves South Indian Cuisine. The menu changes with the ingredients and the variety of recipes is in a good mood. The food has great flavor and true spicy accents. It feels like you are in a table though you’re sitting at a table. Try the ultra dense Scharffen Berger brownie. It has an intense flavor. Table Café also serves wine and beer.
You will most likely fall in love with Table Café or at the very least have a heavy crush. Table Café is like a good friend. He or she is there whenever you need to be nourished… just what a true good friend does.
