Tommy’s Wok in Carmel is an organic Chinese restaurant. This is a place to get organic vegetables and olive oil. There is ABSOLUTLEY NO MSG. Tommy’s Wok is healthy, yet very traditional. The walls are orange with black tables. Some waitresses have strong regional Chinese accents.
Kyle is the manager of Tommy’s Wok, and of course, Tommy is the chef and owner. He has been the chef and owner for seven years. You know…seven is the number of completion. Tommy has Chinese ancestry, but he was born in Vietnam. Tommy created all of the recipes that grace the menu.
Another Tommy’s Wok is in Sausalito, California. The restaurant has no relation to Tommy’s Wok in Carmel. Now that I briefly told you about the Tommy’s Wok ancestry, I will introduce you to the menu.
The menu is very diverse. It is Szechuan, Hunan and Mandarin Chinese Cuisine. It is easy to see how Tommy’s Wok has won the hearts of the locals in Carmel. Tommy’s Wok is real because it comes to the heart of the regions that it represents. Even in Beijing, China, too much soy sauce is used. On the other hand, Kyle informs me that at Tommy’s Wok, no soy sauce is used in the cooking. The local organic ingredients blend well with the spices and condiments in the Chinese recipes.
Honestly, there are no gimmicks here at Tommy’s Wok. We are living in a time where gimmicks and angles will very much go up against natural and honest talent. This is one reason why you should eat at Tommy’s Wok. Everything is organic and made by hand. Each dish somehow connects with your mouth in a way that makes it love at first taste. This is artful, diverse cuisine. It is tender, succulent, and imaginative… The spicy dishes are the Szechuan noodles. Along with the bead, they too have a northern influence. The food at Tommy’s Wok surprises and delights wines by the glass, which are very well selected, might I add.
Every palate was considered in the recipes that were created at Tommy’s Wok family business. The two chefs, Tommy, and his younger brother contribute to the greatness of this restaurant along with their wives who play the role as the waitresses. The vibe that the family releases at Tommy’s Wok makes the atmosphere intimate. I too feel like a family member. The locals love the unity.
Tommy’s Wok is the best Chinese restaurant in Monterey Bay. My fortune cookie stated, “The only rose without a thorn is friendship.” I beg to differ. Tommy’s Wok is also a rose without a thorn.
