Zazou

By A. Curatolo

Zazou means Cuisine of the Sun…Perfecto.

Once inside of Zazou, you get a feeling of being far away despite the fact that you are in close proximity to La-La Land. You are free from the pressure of pretension.  Instead, Zazou is in the business of educating palates with natural, fine food.

Zazou has light green Italian marble with sun wood beams.  Mirrors and white tablecloths decorate as well as compliment the restaurant. Among the marble, mirrors, and tablecloths, there is a room set aside for special events. There are no complaints here, just praise and more praise to be in such a gem of a place in the middle of Surf Beach Town.  Sophistication is here…I wish I could take Zazou on my travels.

The staff here at Zazou is not a staff, but one family.  I was going to mention this to Monte, my waiter, but before the words could fall from my lips, he said, “We are all good here, one just as good as the other”.  This is a rare quality, I applaud Zazou and it’s staff because they understand that even a true king is a servant because he cares for others.

G. Gribaldi studied with Julia Child and created all the recipes. The wine list is like that of a private individual’s within means of a wine cellar, and the bread is light and scrumptious.  The desert here is fire works of variety.

In terms of local opinion, Zazou is the place to be when it comes to great Italian food.
